Width: 8 1/2"   Length: 8 1/2"

Designer: Pattern designed by Beth from www.piecebynumber.com. Used with blanket permission from designer.

Materials/Techniques: Paper pieced, hand dyed fabric, hand quilted. The cotton fabric for the rose was hand dyed by me. The rose was constructed by paper piecing. The quilt was pieced by machine; however the quilting was done by hand.

Artist Statement: My mother, an Alzheimerís sufferer, spent most of her adult life in Texas. She dearly loved her adopted state. I chose to make the yellow rose, the Texas state flower, the star of the quilt. The quilt's background is reminiscent of the Texas flag.

Dedication: This little quilt is dedicated to my mother, Doris Austin Hays, a wonderful educator, writer, storyteller and the "very best grandmother." She was taken from us too early by Alzheimer's. It was difficult to watch her brilliant mind slip away.

This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.

This quilt earned $40 for the AAQI.
