Mansfield, PA USA
Width: 8 1/2" Length: 8 1/2"
Materials/Techniques: Pieced; appliquéd; cotton, silk, and some hand painted fabrics are used.
Artist Statement: The center of the quilt is bright and clear with a wheelbarrow containing flowers. As the blocks progress, they become darker and grey to represent less clear thinking. Finally they are black with an occasional grey. The black and red silk show the flares of anger as a way to fight the blackness. The quilting begins as an outline of the wheelbarrow and gradually deteriorates into confusion.
