Width: 9"   Length: 12"

Materials/Techniques: Colored cotton squares were sandwiched between sheets of Solvy, stitched, then Solvy was dissolved leaving a grid of colored squares, which were then stitched onto the cotton background.

Artist's Statement: My mother watched her mother's descent into the Alzheimer's abyss, and lived with the fear that she too, one day, would succumb. When she began to have symptoms, it was heartbreaking to witness her struggling to keep it all together, knowing what was ahead yet unable to stop it.

Dedication: In honor of Mary, my mother, who never complains, and whose smile always lights up our world.
