Linda M. Vitali
Rochester, MI USAWidth: 8.5"
Length: 8.5"
Designer: Emmerson Quillin, adapted for cross stitch by: Ruth Sparrow from Just Cross Stitch magazine, Nov. 1996, pp. 16 - 18. Used with written permission.
Materials/Techniques: Counted cross stitch, quilted border, beading. Colors used: Purple on white background, outlined in black with purple and black quilted border.
Artist's Statement: I made this with the thought of putting it on a small wall in my house. Then I saw Ami on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims and thought it would have a definite place in the Priority Quilts. I have dabbled in cross stitch, quilting, applique and painting. I recognized her pain that she was feeling for her mom.
Dedication: My father, John Schmitz, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 62, he passed at age 75. My mother, Mary Schmitz, suffered from extreme dementia the last 7 years of her life. She passed at age 95. The mental torture they both went through was heart breaking. I will never get over their mental anguish and fear.
