Materials/Techniques: machine piecing, raw-edge machine appliqué, thread painting, machine quilting.

Artist's Statement: I began this quilt for my dad. It represented his colorful memories falling away into the black and white of the past- the fading of his colorful world into darkness that I know is inevitable in the years to come. Somewhere along the way, I realized I was also making it for myself. It was a way to work through the feeling that relationships are always changing. Some people leave your life unexpectedly, when their leaf is still in full color. Others losses you see coming, and their leaves change to grey before they fall. Whether it is people, memories, or something else that is lost, maybe there is a silver lining of reliving the good times that once were.

Dedication: For my dad. I love you and wish there was more that I could do to stop this awful disease.

This quilt is displayed with Fast Finish Triangles.

This quilt earned $126 for the AAQI.
