The labyrinth is sometimes used as a spiritual tool. Walking a labyrinth during prayer and meditation, we walk into the center and walk out again. When I saw this labyrinth it reminded me of a brain. The one way path of destruction that dementia and Alzheimer's disease presents; into the center, into the darkness. The title of the piece, "The Road is Long" is the first line from the song "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother." This song speaks to me as I walk with my Mother on her road into the darkness.
For Ralph, and Cindy who walked with him to the end.
