West Seneca, NY USAWidth: 8.5"
Length: 11"
Materials/Techniques: hand applique, ruching, machine quilting, hand embellishment with sequins and beads.
Artist's Statement: This quilt was inspired by the Marty Robins' song "A White Sport Coat (and a Pink Carnation)" that was popular in the late 1950's. I have this wonderful memory of my Aunt Bette singing this song -- and giggling at me -- as my Mom finished sewing the hem on my pink prom dress. My dress matched the color of the pink carnation on my dates' jacket. My date and I had the best matching outfits at the Junior Prom!
Bonnie MacGregorDedication: To my Aunt Bette who passed away from Alzheimer's Disease. I miss her very much.
