Artist's Statement: My sister-in-law, Martha, took loving care of my mother-in-law in her home until she could no longer do so safely. My mother-in-law was then moved into the Alzheimer unit at the Lutheran Home in Arlington, Ill. Martha then continued visiting her everyday until she decided to become a volunteer Activities aide. Not only did she watch over her mom but she became close with other patients. Martha is one of the quiet Heroes.
