Artist's Statement: I found this drawing by German artist, Maren Schaffner, on a greeting card and I couldn’t resist it. This is my first time making a quilt without a pattern, other than her drawing. I’m calling it “Abe’s Kittens” because the greeting card had an inscription that was a quote from Abraham Lincoln. It said, “No matter how much cats fight, there always seem to be plenty of kittens.” I am a cat lover, and making cats into quilts is my favorite thing to do. I hope you like my kittens.

Dedication: To my grandmother, Ella Richards Nelson, who slipped away from us too soon from Alzheimer’s Disease.
This quilt is displayed with a soda pull-tab.
This quilt earned $65 for the AAQI.
