Houston, TX USAWidth:
Cotton fabrics & batting, fusible web; strip machine piecing, machine and hand applique, machine quilting.Artist's Statement:
A person starts out whole and unique, yet with Alzheimer's, identity is stolen: the gradual loss of what makes each of us who we are. This piece was made after a poem I wrote (pinned to the back), fabrics selected show the diminishing aspect of recognition of self, but still that unique person has touched many lives and leaves imprints that can't be erased. The purple ribbon represents the hope that soon there will be a solution found to save all those future identities yet to be stolen.
Mona Follis Dedication:
For my daughter-in-law's mom Marie, and other friends still living with this dread disease, I pray the solution comes soon.
