5572 - Losing Control

5572 - Losing Control

Milpitas, CA    USA

Width: 12"   Length: 9"

Materials/Techniques: 100% cotton fabrics (with exception of small central detail with metallic fiber) sewn in log cabin technique. Minimal decorative stitching. Batting iron on polyester fiber.

Artist's Statement: The bright and subtle colors of the oriental motif fabrics reminded me of the various colors of life, interests, relationships. We order our hours, days, years. But Alzheimer's scatters our life control, leaving dark places instead of vibrant color, loose threads and disorganization of relationships and home.

Dedication: I honor my sister in law, Bobbi Salisbury, and co-worker, Brigitte Fyall, each of whom lost her mother to Alzheimer's.

This quilt has a plain back.

This quilt earned $44.75 for the AAQI.
