5321 - Scraps and Tangles

Ruth Dassen
Mesa, AZ USAWidth: 9"
Length: 11.625"
Materials/Techniques: Batik fabric; machine quilting.
Artist's Statement: I looked at a pile of triangular scraps left from trimming rows from a batik quilt I was making, and I thought of the phrase, “scraps and tangles”, and this, in turn, made me think of Alzheimer’s plaques and tangles. I laid the triangles and a few rectangular pieces of fabric out until the design pleased me, then covered with water soluble stabilizer and machine quilted.
Dedication: In honor of Beverly Sorenson.

This quilt earned $50.00 for the AAQI.
