Brick, NJ USAWidth:
I used fusible applique to apply the silhouettes of the peoples heads, and then machine quilted around. 100% cotton is used on the front, and the back is pieced.Artist's Statement:
When I was working at the adult day care center as a teenager, I met so many wonderful men and women there. I watched these wonderful men and women slowly forget their memories. I wanted to try and make a quilt that would honor the people that they were, and the people that they became, so I came up with the idea of using silhouettes of men and women. The colorful blocks that the silhouettes are on represent all the clear days and wonderful memories, and the darkness of the silhouette represents the days that memories aren't so clear.
Jennifer Burns-Dyson Dedication:
In honor of my husbandís grandmother, Doris, and to all the men and women I worked with as a teenager.
