Cotton fabrics and threads, and poly/cotton batting, machine pieced and quilted.Artist's Statement:
This little quilt ended up being made from just two fabrics. Initially it was supposed to be made up of "Four X Star" blocks with rose marble centers in an Irish chain setting. After the first block was finished I decided I didn't like the marble center in it and couldn't pick a fabric I liked for the Irish Chain part. Then for a while it was going to be simpler "Four-X" blocks in a straight setting with plain quarter inch sashes. Then I decided it might be more interesting with pieced sashes. Then about the time the blocks were finished I realized that if I increased the sashes to half an inch in width I would have "Shoo Fly" units bridging the initial blocks. That seemed cool so I put them together that way. The quilting design in the center of the quilt is one from the Quiltmaker Collection (used with written permission. Copyright Quiltmaker 2009.) .
