Width: 9"   Length: 12"

Materials/Techniques: Silk, cotton, applique, printed on silk.

Artist's Statement: During my mother's struggle with Alzheimer's, she changed from the gentle, caring person that she had been all her life to a fearful, paranoid, suspicious person. This was difficult to watch and to deal with. I didn't know who she would be when I arrived home from work in the evening. Eventually, she could not be left alone and had to enter a nursing home. I printed on silk fabric the words to describe her change in personality. The typefaces and fabric selection represent the gentleness of the first self and the scattered paranoia of the second self.
