Materials/Techniques: Thread sketch on commercial cotton by machine. Machine quilted - in the design are the years of Dr. Alzheimer's birth and death (1864-1915). Other years represent highlights of his involvement with the disease which was given his name.
Artist's Statement: 1901- Dr. Alois Alzheimer was a working in Frankfurt, Germany at a psychiatric institute when he encountered his first patient with symptoms of the disease we now know as Alzheimer's. She was called was Auguste D. 1903 - Alzheimer moved to Munich and kept studying this strange new affliction.1906 - Alzheimer first presented his case at a conference. 1910 - The term "Alzheimer's disease was first used in a lecture by a doctor in Munich. 1911 - Dr. Alzheimer published an account of the case of Auguste D.
