Pieced without foundations. Strip pieced checkerboards. The central block named Blue Meteors is one found in Jinny Beyer’s book, Quilters Album of Patchwork Pattern attributed to Nancy Cabot and published in the Chicago Tribune on Feb 8, 1936.Artist's Statement:
After completing the block, it was encircled with a checker board border and then set on point. The setting triangles were my design and more checkerboards were used as outer borders. One daughter suggested Convergence of the Meteors, which we shortened a little. There was a lot of discussion about the "meteors" looking like Joker, but that was discarded.
