Artist's Statement: Our son was in his early 20's when his Grandmother Shaver was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and placed in a church home for Alzheimer patients. We had prepared him for what the visit with his grandmother would be like and he was so certain she would know him. It was a devastating visit. When my neighbor gave me this photo of her granddaughter, I was reminded of that visit so many years ago.
