Piedmont, CA USAWidth:
Phototransfer. machine stitched, hand stitched, machine quilted cotton batiks.Artist's Statement:
The Alzheimer's patient's ability to interpret body language, voice tones and emotions remains with the individual much longer than one would expect especially when other aspects of their behavior have changed drastically. Mom had the company of another patient in the residence, in whom she found friendship, support, and love and this was communicated mostly directly by holding hands. They didn't talk a lot nor did they need to...their hands comforted each other and that was all that was needed . The quilt is built around a photograph I took which captured the essence of this very special relationship.
