Tuttle, OK USAWidth:
Mostly constructed with a green and various tan marbled fabrics and some remaining red through pink scraps of Beth Hartford's gift of hand dyed fabric for a $1000 Promise prize which were cut and fused and satin stitched to the background. The border was pieced and then quilted when outlined with satin stitch.Artist's Statement:
Over the years I have made a number of wall hangings and pillows that used this technique, but somehow moved away from it. The size of these quilts are actually perfect for it, but I never cared for the heavy black lines that even the narrowest stitch made on the smaller quilts. I tried a two ply thread in gray and it seemed to be much more in scale. But now I have waited so long I have lost some of the skill I once had with the technique. I will keep practicing.
