Frenchtown, MT USAWidth:
Cotton fabrics, batting, and threads; machine pieced and quilted.Artist's Statement:
I like to think of this little quilt as a miniature metaphor of life. Alternating “Rocky Road to California“ blocks are rotated so that along with the nine-patch cornerstones there is a network of diagonally crossing “roads“, some with just small bumps, some with larger hurdles. The unpieced sashings could be considered as very smooth stretches of road. The diagonal quilting makes some of the roads level while the batting in the unquilted roads has them crossing hills. All of the roads have occasional stop signs.
