4823 - Single Thought ($100)

Josephville, MO    USA

Width: 8.25"   Length: 11.125"

Materials/Techniques: Vintage 9-patch quilt block, tatting, cotton, Hawaii flower print; needle turn appliqué, hand quilted.

Artist's Statement: I redesigned a vintage 9-patch block into an abstract block with uneven edging of yellow tatting. The blues, grays and blacks in this block represent the darkness that closes in on Alzheimer’s victims. A single long stem flower represents a single thought that may enter the minds of an Alzheimer’s victim as they become closed in by the blues, grays and blacks of loss of memory and fleeting thoughts.
