Tuttle, OK USA Width:
Cotton fabrics pieced without foundations. The header is a fused landscape with the students and teacher drawn and fused in place.Artist's Statement:
It used to be a privilege to go to school and learn. The lessons were hard and the days not always bright and sunny. The trips from home were often long and there was no transportation provided. The lucky children were the ones who had a horse, pony or mule to ride or pull a wagon. The teachers might be only a little older than their students, but the discipline was strict because learning was a serious business then. The children who graduated were truly stars.
Audrey Arno Dedication:
To the educators who mold the lives of children and give them an opportunity to make a success of their lives.
