Background is a scrap of upholstery fabric that was sitting on my worktable one day next to a pair of hand dyed socks that had a hole in one heel. I was planning to cut the socks open and put them in my scrap bin for some future use because they were so pretty I couldn’t bear to throw them out. Next to the two of these was a sketch a friend did of a bird. The three combined in my head and this is the result! The tree is made with paper fabric, the nest is made of used shout color catcher laundry sheets. The binding is a scrap from a vintage dress and the backing is just a piece I found in my scrap bin.Artist's Statement:
This piece was juried into a small local art show called Artists for a Greener Evanston. The show is over and now it belongs to the AAQI – and eventually maybe to you!Dedication:
