Width: 8.75"   Length: 10.5"

Materials/Techniques: Pieced block with fused raw edge appliqué on borders and center of the block. The print fabrics are from The Circus by Benartex samples I received from their Mr. B's Club. The yellow background and red binding and inner border are cotton fabrics I had on hand.

Artist's Statement: I have wanted to use some of the generous samples that I received of this collection for a long time. Some are 4 inch squares but others are much larger pieces showing a great deal of the design. When looking for a way to put it all together, I thought of the State Fair block that had good sized patches so suitable for some of the pictures in the print. The traditional block was slightly modified by placing patches in the corners. The numerous posters such as fairs and circuses always had provided cutouts to scatter over the borders.

Dedication: To all of us who had the thrills and excitement of the infrequent visits of the circuses to our areas. The big tents with the trapezes, peppy music, and the animal acts were the things I remember best.

This quilt is displayed with Fast Finish Triangles.

This quilt earned $45 for the AAQI.
