4121 - Slowly Winding Down

Judy Buchanan
Austin, TX USAWidth: 8.375"
Length: 11.375"
Materials/Techniques: Cottons, Pellon fusible fleece; machine pieced with applied raw edge circles, machine quilted.
Artist's Statement: This piece was inspired by a James Taylor song called Fading Away. Several lines seem to be a good description of the changes brought about by Alzheimer’s. He sings of a dog chasing his tail, circles in the mind, freezing up, seizing up and fading away.
Dedication: To my Mother’s younger sister and my Mother’s best boyfriend - both of them in the nursing home she was in – both of them with Alzheimer’s and to my husband’s uncle who died of the disease.
