Materials/Techniques: A crazy quilted art piece - using some vintage Shibori, a Japanese resist dye technique. Hand beaded.
Artist's Statement: This small art piece honors a remembered Japanese lady. She is surrounded by lucky red fabrics, some of Japanese origin. It is hung with an attached Kumi-Himo, a decorative braided silk cord originally used to tie scrolls and the robes of Buddhist monks. Kumi-Himo work has been designated as an "intangible cultural property".
