3300 - October Rose ($45)

Diane Petersmarck
Evanston, IL USAWidth: 8.5"
Length: 11"
Materials/Techniques: Roses are stamped in acrylic paint using the cut end of a head of romaine lettuce. I then painted the background and set the piece in a hand dye from QuiltersStitchTogether.com. The focal point rose was hand embroidered and machine stitched and additional paint was added.
Artist's Statement: Made this quilt as part of the 2008 Quiltart Stay At Home Challenge. I had seen a tutorial on-line for using celery to stamp roses, but when I saw the end of the head of romaine as I was making dinner one evening, I realized that it would work just as well.
Dedication: As always, to my Dad, who motivates all my work for the AAQI.
This quilt is displayed with
Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $45.00 for the AAQI.
