3032 - A Blindness of the Mind

Mona Follis
Houston, TX USAWidth: 9"
Length: 12"
Materials/Techniques: Machine strip piecing, hand appliqué, tulle, floss and soft fiber embellishments.
Artist's Statement: I tried to think how the progress of Alzheimer's might be viewed by the victim, so I wrote a poem (on the back of the quilt), then designed the spiraling flying geese depicting the progression of the loss experienced (I'm told) by the disease. The background also, goes from light to dark, echoing the same trauma.
Mona Follis Dedication: For my daughter-in-law's mother, Marie, in Barcelona.
This quilt has a
plain back.
This quilt earned $195.00 for the AAQI.
