Aiken, SC USAWidth:
Heliographic printed cotton mounted on linen; embroidered and beaded.Artist's Statement:
William Wordsworth's poem "Splendor in the Grass" was the inspiration for this quilt. When our loved one has Alzheimer’s we watch as the person fades away leaving only an outer shell. This is much like the verse that reads "What though the radiance which was once so bright be now forever taken from my sight. Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower, we will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind."
Betyann Shaver Dedication:
For Verian Bambery, daughter of Irene Elsemiller.
