Artist's Statement: The old man covers himself with a simple quilt, made for him many years ago by his mother, as he lay on his bed. The glow of the moon shines down on his face as he searches for the star of his beloved among the heavens. Content at last that he has found her, he sighs and turns his head toward his window once more to rest for the night. Spatterings of light fall on his shape as the moon's light is filtered through the leaves of nearby trees. He smiles. Star kisses, he calls these flickers. Kisses from his beloved wife. Reminders that she is with him and he with her. He touches each one gently before they move and disappear. He sleeps with the knowledge that he is loved forever.
