During WWII, we listened to all the news broadcasts and on Sunday evening Walter Winchell always started his radio show with the sound of a telegraph key and the opening, “Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. America and all the ships at sea. Let’s go to press.” He talked faster than most broadcasters and that may be why what he said always seemed so important.
Being young in the 1940’s I always wondered, if all the ships at sea were required to listen to his news show.Dedication:
