2602 - The Season of Life

Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabrics; fused appliqué, machine quilting.
Artist's Statement: The Fall is my uncle's favorite season. It reminds him of life, more so than the Spring, he says, because the Fall is a remembrance that his life is turning toward his return to God. He loves the colors and the uniqueness of the leaves. He is astonished by the grace of their fall, knowing that their time is short. He loves to walk among them, as if they were old friends. He enjoys the Fall, and even though his Alzheimer's limits his abilities, his heart knows that the Fall, for him, is here, and he welcomes it.
