Artist's Statement: My uncle was mesmerized by a conductor at a concert he once attended. "That conductor kept everyone in line. They were loud and they were soft; but they were together." He says his Alzheimer's is the strange sound of a thousand voices at once and of silence at the same time. His mind plays things that he does not recognize and scenes he does not recall. His job is to keep them together, to keep them in line, as the song called life is played on. He has become the conductor.

Dedication: For my uncle, who conducts his life with as much dignity as Alzheimer's will allow.
