Batiks; raw-edge machine applique, machine Hawaiian quilting.Artist's Statement:
This block is one of 4 identical blocks. I took an Hawaiian quilting class and knew that I would never be able to do all the hand work, so I chose to machine stitch.
The idea for the title came to me because my father used to say "Hawaii" like Arthur Godfrey. We always teased him about it, but we did have a nice vacation to "How-a-ya." I lost my mother to AD in June of 2006 and my father died of stroke related dementia in March of 2007.
