Fusible appliqué, free motion machine stitching and machine quilting.Artist's Statement:
I made two quilts with the same design. “After Alzheimer's” depicts my father trying to remember the words he wanted to say - they seemed to float somewhere "out there", just beyond his reach. I could almost see them for him.
This quilt is my tribute to my father, Floyd "Woody" Woodburn, who suffered Alzheimer's for four years. "After Alzheimer's" represents him as being drained of color and "life" by this horrible disease that robs the most basic aspects of personality.
This quilt is displayed with a traditional sleeve
This quilt earned $30 for the AAQI.
