Artist's Statement: It is meant to symbolize not only the love that is always there, but the heartbreak that cracks that love open. Here, it has not broken the halves apart, they stay connected, just cracked and forever changed by the devastating effects of this disease.

Dedication: For my amazing and wonderful 82-year-old mother, who has survived stage 3b of Inflammatory Breast Cancer for five years, is a fragile diabetic, legally blind and now faces the uncertain future of Alzheimer's. And for my amazing 90-year-old father who is her primary caregiver.
