Artist's Statement: My uncle, who has Alzheimer’s, had moments of clarity when my aunt’s death became imminent. He talked with her, held her hand, kissed her often, and in the moment of her passing, he told us that he knew she had died, because the music in his heart had stopped. He sat quietly for a long time and then his spirits seemed to rally, as he smiled and said that the music had started again. This time, it wasn’t my aunt’s voice he heard; it was music of angels welcoming her home. He hummed and smiled and his world was complete.

Dedication: To my uncle and to everyone whose music keeps them going.
