Materials/Techniques: Altered photograph by Stephanie Costa, acrylics; decorative machine stitching, hand beading. An original poem on back of quilt reads:

I fished from the sea of adventure,
my net ripping from abundant experience.

I fished from the communal lake,
feeding all with my catch of knowledge.

I fished out of the stream of Remembrance,
catch and releasing silvery scaled moments.

Sitting on the bank of Alzheimer's Creek,
no pole or net in hand,
I am —
unable to feed my soul.

Artist's Statement: Memories are like fish caught from the stream of time. Sometimes our catch is so large we cannot remember every event, and sometimes we are left with an empty net. I believe each communication with an Alzheimer's patient is worthy, even if their thoughts become the fish that got away.
