Longview, WA USA
Width: 9" Length: 12"
Materials/Techniques: I printed this photo that I took a while back. Now I have forgotten the name of this very thin stuff you pull off of the paper backing. You see why I draw most of the things I do. A computer geek I am. I free motion quilted it and added just a little shading with Inktense pencils. I finished it with some hand dyed silk ribbon on the edges. It is thread signed.
Artist Statement: I went to R.A. Long high school a long time ago. It is a beautiful school and is on a large campus full of trees. He was a lumberman from the south. He donated the school to the city and did many other things. He had trees planted around a lake in the middle of town. So many people still walk around the lake. He built the largest lumber mill in the world here in Longview Washington. That was in 1923.
Dedication: To my mother who had Alzheimer's and to all caregivers and to Ele' and Barbara who are great caregivers.
This quilt has a Hanging Ring.
This quilt earned $55.43 for the AAQI.
