Sunnyside, WA USA
Width: 9" Length: 11.75"
Materials/Techniques: Linen and cottons; pieced background; machine-appliquéd letters.
Artist Statement: My friend Florence and I make linen Baptismal cloths for our church. I block and clean finish them, then embroider a cross in gold thread; Florence crochets exquisite lace around the edge. The background of this quilt is made from scraps of cotton and ends of linen. Incidentally, Florence is in her mid-nineties and was a ‘Rosie the Riveter’ in WWII.
Dedication: To all the women who pitch in and do whatever is needed to get a job done. Rosie the Riveter was an icon of such women who learn new jobs and can be all business but who never lose their femininity.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
