Width: 8" Length: 10"
Materials/Techniques: I've always been fascinated by the shapes and colors of beads. I figured this skeleton looked like she should be dancing, so I beaded her a fancy bodice and made a dress out of a bit of purple scarf.
Hand beaded and embellished, machine quilted.
Artist Statement: This quilt was created with a screen print depicting Día de Muertos or Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it is a national holiday. What better subject for a Priority Quilt?
Dedication: To my Dad, (1927-2010), who motivates all my work for the AAQI.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $55.43 for the AAQI.
