Laura Keyes Perry
Roanoke, VA USA
Width: 11.5" Length: 8.5"
Materials/Techniques: Handmade yo-yos appliquéd to a quilted black background. Thanks to people who sent me fabric to use, including Agnes Nelson, Janet Hardie and her sister, Anna Lee Ladd, Johnny Rex and Sue Wilson, Doris Messimer, Eunice Fink, Wilma Ranney, Joan Reynolds, and Carol Vance.
Artist Statement: Yo-yos were popular for making quilts in the 1930s. I like traditional crafts and quilts! I could have placed them in regimented rows, but I liked the bright colors so much that I decided to make them "smile"!
Dedication: Remembering the loving hands that made quilts for their young'uns.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $41.57 for the AAQI.
