Salem, OR USA
Width: 7.5" Length: 7.5"
Materials/Techniques: Batiks and sheer fabrics, machine and raw edge appliqué, spiraled wire, sequins, beads, and hand quilting.
Artist Statement: I have cared for my mother with the help of my father and my four younger brothers for the past 8 years in our childhood home on our little island in Alaska. When we found out that social services couldn't help us, or her, we made up our minds to never give up and to do it all ourselves. Each and every day, we hope for a better day for her, as well as for each of us. And we hope, and we pray for a cure...always, always, hope springs eternally for a cure for this terrible, debilitating disease.
Dedication: For all of us who never lose hope. We hope for so many, many things....but most of all we hope that those of us who have served as care givers, never have to face Alzheimer's disease ourselves.
This quilt has a Split Sleeve.
This quilt earned $65.00 for the AAQI.
