Longview, WA USA
Width: 8.5" Length: 11.75"
Materials/Techniques: I cut the ribbons to length and pressed them. I hand stitched the lengths to a background I had painted. I cut the cattails from hand-dyed velvet and they are sewn by machine. The background is free motion quilted and thread signed.
Artist Statement: I got these Sari silks mostly because of the story. Women pick up the scraps from the floor of the factory where they make Saris. They cut and sew them together to make ribbons. I like these shades of green and a little purple. I like not wasting good materials and using them to make something useful. Those women also now have money for their families.
Dedication: To mother who had Alzheimer's and to Barbara who is a great care giver. Also to Ele' who can now start caring for herself.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
