Austin, TX USAWidth:
Cotton fabric, cotton hand-crocheted lace, vinatage buttons; machine pieced and quilted.Artist's Statement:
A pastel, traditional piece embellished with lace crocheted by my mother back when she could remember how to crochet. This lace was used to edge a pillowcase and has been recycled now that the pillowcase has torn and worn out. The buttons are from her button-box.
Dedicated to my sister, who is closer to me than ever before due to our shared care of Mother. We are bound by love in the "tied together" sense of the word “Bind." We are also both bound in the "tied down" sense of the word. Recently I had chest pains and my first thought was "I can't die! I can't do that to my sister!" Thank you, Diane, for being there for Mama and for me.
