Materials/Techniques: Fabric, Pellon Peltex 72; free motion quilting, photo transfer.

Artist's Statement: This is a mailable fabric postcard. It is a photograph of my ukulele and kukui nut lei, which was transferred to fabric. The ukulele, a Hawaiian word which means "jumping flea," is associated with Hawaiian music. However, it was developed from a Portuguese instrument called cavaquinho (pron. /ka.va.'ki.nu/in Portuguese). There are four types of ukuleles: soprano, concert, tenor, and baritone. This ukulele is a tenor 4-string and is crafted from koa wood.
