Port Angeles, WA USA
Width: 8" Length: 9"
Materials/Techniques: Cotton fabrics, fused, stitched and quilted with cotton and rayon threads, Tsukineko inks, raw silk yarn for binding edge.
Artist Statement: An experiment in interpreting in fabric a famous work of art, in this case "A Woman Sitting Before the Window" by Henri Matisse. The light reflected on the woman's face seems to dramatize the lighter and darker sides of our earthly experiences. Without the dark we would not be able to appreciate the light.
