Artist Statement: I wanted to create a symbol of my mother's struggle to retain her identity as the door of reason (traditional embroidery stitches) slowly closed, leaving chaos and disorder (the random stitches).
Dedication: To my mother, June, who for sixteen years fought the ravages of stroke, dementia and Alzheimer's. To the end, she retained the spark in her eyes that reflected the dear essence of her soul.
