Materials/Techniques: The ballerina flamingo is cotton machine and is appliqued onto a cotton background. Susan Smith added hand quilting around the figure. She has a black bugle bead eye which gives her a demure expression.
Artist Statement: This quilt was made by Rebecca Day to raise money for AAQI. She donated it to Gloucester Retired Educators Association to be raffled, the proceeds from the raffle going to AAQI. My name is Sherry Whitford and I was presenting a program on AAQI to the group. Of course, I purchased raffle tickets and was lucky enough to win this delightful Dancing Flamingo quilt. It is my privilege to send it along to AAQI in the hope that it will raise even more money for the cause. Rebecca's friend Susan Smith made a daffodil quilt for the raffle, and it was her generosity that inspired Rebecca to make a quilt as well. My luck didn't hold to winning both quilts.
Dedication: Let's hear it for good acts spreading and multiplying.
This quilt has Fast Finish Triangles.
This quilt earned $41.57 for the AAQI.
